The difference between literary and “popular” or “genre” fiction; literary “formulae” and best sellers; various approaches to the study of popular fiction (sociological, psychological, cultural and text based)
The focus is on the study of several literary “types” or “formulae” including adventure, romance, mystery and science fiction as formulaic artistic constructions created to entertain, against the background of broader socio-political conditions.
