Firstly, a hearty congratulations on being accepted into the Faculty of Health Sciences. More importantly though, congratulations on being admitted to House Olympus. As you will see next year, this is a house which strives for excellence, but in doing so provides an amazing brotherhood and place to find yourself.

You will fairly soon become acquainted with “The Crooked Surgeon”, which is our clubhouse and carries a soft place in every Olympian’s heart. The clubhouse opens on Friday and Saturday nights from 19:00 to 22:00 and I for one can testify that it is a great way to relax and take a breath after a long academic week. You will struggle to find lower drink prices in town and it is possibly the best place to socialize with a few of your mates and meet a few lovely ladies.

An important part of student life is social interaction and meeting new people. As the social HC, it is my duty to organise social gatherings and get-togethers with other residences, especially the ladies. Seeing as though Olympus has got a good reputation with all the girls’ residences, I can assure you that your social calendar will by no means look dull next year.

Lastly, as treasurer, it my duty to balance the books of the house and manage all incomes and expenses.

We at House Olympus strive to be “Men of Distinction” and as such seek excellence in everything that we do. Whether it be academics (which is why we are here after all) or social activities, a healthy balance is required and so we work hard, but do not shy away from playing hard either.

I wish you good luck for your upcoming exams and hope that you enjoy your matric holidays. Next year you will be entering into the next, and arguably the best, time of your life and I am certain that you are just as excited as we are!

Regards
