Academics

Academics

Besides all our sport and cultural activities we are here to obtain degrees and we take our academics seriously. In 2012 we achieved the second highest academics results of all the male residences. Nicholas Bornman and Mark Ortmann were both named top academic students in all residences for the years 2013 and 2015 respectively. Most recently we had Keith Stanger (Beng Mechanical engineering) who graduated as one of the top ten students in his class and Steve Nel (Bsc (Agric) Plant Pathology) who graduated top of his class, with both obtaining cum laude.

It is through the structures we have in our residence that we are proud holders of such accolades.
We have a very convenient study centre that is situated in the House.
A mentor is allocated to each first year student to help them settle into the new study environment and workload. The role of the mentors is help to assist the first years assigned to them throughout the first 6 months of their university life. If any extra help is needed, the relevant authorities on campus can be contacted (Student Suppport Services).

The study centre can be rearranged to cater for group discussions during off-peak study times.
