Oupa Rokkit
I arrived in 1961 when a gnome and myself were rescued from Sonop by six Taaibos house members. I was chosen as a good luck charm and after much debate, was named Rokkit. The gnome's task was to keep me company, but he got lost over the years.
56 years have passed since then - I don't want to know how much that is in dog years, but I will say that it has been an honour and a pleasure to spend my years in the home I call Taaibos.
After all these years my age has finally started to show, so I've decided to undergo plastic surgery... to regain the feeling of having a nose.
Taaibos still remains the 'top dog' residence. Though many first years may think I always have the same look on my face, the Ou manne will know that I always stand proud, whether it is because of our accomplishments in academics; our extraordinary serrie and serenade.
The Residence isn't just a simple dog box made of four surrounding walls. No, Taaibos is a home where people from different backgrounds come together to live as brothers. They leave these walls as proud, strong men. I've lived in this home for fifty years, and I will be here for the next fifty. There is no greater privilege than being labelled a Taaibos man... or dog.
